Lesson Four ~ El Roi, The God Who Sees Me, Part Two

Scripture shows us that God sees us ~

• “Your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.” Matthew 6:18

• “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him…” Hebrews 4:13

• “I will instruct you and teach you with my eye upon you.” Psalm 32:8

• “For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” 2 Chronicles 16:9

• “Be careful to obey these regulations I am giving you, so it may always go well with you and your children, because you will be doing right in the eyes of the LORD your God.” Deut. 12:28

• “May the words of my mouth-meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:4

• “From heaven the LORD looks down-sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth-he who forms the hearts of all, who considers all they do.” Psalm 33:13-15

• “The eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and famine.” Psalm 33:18-19

• “The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, his ears are attentive to cry.” Psalm 34:15

• “Keep me as the apple of your eye.” (An expression meaning favorite person.) Psalm 17:8

• “If my people, called by my name, will humble themselves-pray-seek my face-turn from their sin, I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin-heal their land. Now my eyes will be open, my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and consecrated this temple so my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.” 2 Chron. 7:14-16

• “The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.” Psalm 14:2

• “He will not let your foot slip, he who watches over you and Israel, he will not slumber. He is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm-he will watch over your life, the LORD will watch over your coming and going now and forever.” Psalm 121:3-8

• “Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?” Psalm 94:9

• “The LORD is in his holy temple-on his heavenly throne. He observes the sons of men; his eyes examine them.” Psalm 11:4

• “Who is like the LORD our God, the One who sits enthroned on high who stoops down to look on the heavens and earth?” Psalm 113:5-6

• “The ways of a man are before the eyes of the LORD and he watches all his paths.” Proverbs 5:21

• “The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.” Proverbs 15:3

• “O LORD, you have searched me-you know me...when I sit and rise, you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down. You know all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, you know it completely, O LORD.” Psalm 139:1-4 (read entire Psalm)

What Scripture says about us seeing God..looking to God ~ 

• "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." Matthew 5:8

• "Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always." Psalm 105:4

• "And I, in righteousness I will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness." Psalm 17:15

• "One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek… to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD, to seek him in his temple." Psalm 27:4

• "Those who look to him are radiant"… (no shame in their faces) Psalm 34:5

• "I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and glory." Psalm 63:2

• "For the LORD is righteous… upright men will see his face."Psalm 11:7

• "When he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is." 1 John 3:2-3

• "Look, he is coming with the clouds-every eye will see him." Revelation 1:7

• "They will see his face, his name will be on their foreheads." Revelation 22:4

• "I lift my eyes to the hills-My help comes from the LORD, Maker of heaven-earth." Psalm 121:1-2

• "I lift my eyes to you, whose throne is in heaven. As the eyes look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, til he shows us his mercy. Psalm 123:1-2

• "Anyone who has seen me has seen my Father." John 14:9

• "My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you." Job 42:5, Job 19:27

Blessed are those who have not seen God, yet believed!

• “Jesus told Thomas, Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:29

• “Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” 1 Peter 1:8-9

Summary ~

El Roi, We praise you, The God Who Sees Us! You are the only one who sees everything. We take great comfort and security in knowing that we are always in your sight, and that your eyes never leave our loved ones. This means that when we cannot see our loved ones, we can have peace knowing that you see them.

When you are the only one who sees something good we do, you reward us. While you are watching us, you teach us. Our hearts are formed and strengthened by you. You see us. You hear us. You deliver and protect us. You examine us.

When our hearts are pure, we are going to see you! We will always seek your face!
We will gaze on your beauty, power and glory as we seek you in the temple! Our faces cannot help but radiate your glory when we have beheld you!

What a divine mystery that, even though we have not seen you, you have given us faith to believe in you, and we are blessed.  We love you, and we truly are filled with amazing joy as we walk in our salvation.

Hallelujah, there is going to come a day, a promised day, when we will all see you face to face! We praise you that when you appear, we shall be like you, for we shall see you as you are. As we are transformed into your image, give us your eyes to see the beauty of who you are. We will proclaim the beauty of your holiness to the world!

Give us your eyes to see ourselves and our situations the way you do. Give us your eyes to see people the way you see them and give others your eyes to see us the way you see us! When we recognize Christlike qualities in others, when we notice anything good in someone, we will not allow the moment to pass without telling them about it!
