Days of Praise ~ El Roi, The God Who Sees Me

El Roi, We praise you, The God Who Sees Us! You are the only one who sees everything. We take great comfort and security in knowing that we are always in your sight, and that your eyes never leave our loved ones. This means that when we cannot see our loved ones, we can have peace knowing that you see them.

You sought after a very distraught woman named Hagar when she had run away from a terrible situation and you met her in the wilderness. You revealed yourself to her and she called you "The God Who Sees Me"---El Roi! You instructed her to go back and submit to Abraham and Sarah. That was surely the last thing she wanted to do, but she was obedient to your command and you blessed her. You made a promise to Hagar, who was pregnant with Abraham's son. You gave her a vision of her future. You seek after us. You said, "Here I am!" to everyone. You are the God who reveals yourself. All we have to do is listen to you, open the door of our hearts to you, and obey you, and we will have fellowship with you.

If we know that you see us, then we know that you hear us. The next time Hagar is in the desert she and her son Ishmael have been sent away because of a conflict between Ishmael and the son of Sarah and Abraham. You heard Hagar's son, Ishmael, crying in the desert after they had run out of water. Hagar had left Ishmael under a tree to die. Ishmael's very name means "God hears." You hear us when we cry out to you in our time of need, when we repent, when we praise you, when we pray to you, when we speak your name. We praise you that you not only hear us, you answer us. You deliver us, you heal us, you redeem us. You have a book which holds in it everything that has been said about you by those who love you. You have the power to cause us to hear you. You are always with us. Your voice guides us. You speak to our hearts. Those who are of truth and are of God will hear your voice.

When you are the only one who sees something good we do, you reward us. While you are watching us, you teach us. Our hearts are formed and strengthened by you. You see us. You hear us. You deliver and protect us. You examine us. Just knowing that we are always in your sight compels us to stay away from the temptations of sin. Your eyes are always on us...when we sin, when we repent, and when we are cleansed and back on track.

When our hearts are pure, we are going to see you! We will always seek your face!
We will gaze on your beauty, power and glory as we seek you in the temple! Our faces cannot help but radiate your glory when we have beheld you!

What a divine mystery that, even though we have not seen you, you have given us faith to believe in you, and we are blessed.  We love you, and we truly are filled with amazing joy as we walk in our salvation.

Hallelujah, there is going to come a day, a promised day, when we will all see you face to face! We praise you that when you appear, we shall be like you, for we shall see you as you are. As we are transformed into your image, give us your eyes to see the beauty of who you are. We will proclaim the beauty of your holiness to the world!

Give us your eyes to see ourselves and our situations the way you do. Give us your eyes to see people the way you see them and give others your eyes to see us the way you see us! When we recognize Christlike qualities in others, when we notice anything good in someone, we will not allow the moment to pass without telling them about it!

Have you opened your heart to him? Have you heard him speak to your heart? Get quiet and listen for his voice. Truly, how could there be anything more amazing in this life than to communicate with God?
