El Olam, Part Four

Scripture instructs us on how to respond to the Eternal God….

We are told to be faithful, obedient, repent, and revere God….

  • “The loving kindness of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting, to them who reverence him; his salvation is to children’s children of those who are faithful to his covenant and remember to obey him.” Psalm 103:17-18
  • “Then Peter said unto them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” Acts 2:38-39

We are told to trust in the LORD

  • “Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal.” Isaiah 26:4
  • “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going…:6-:7 I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” John 14:1-7
  • “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

We are told to go into strict training and fight the fight

  • “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” 1 Corinthians 9:25
  • “But you, man of God, flee from all of this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.  Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:11-13

We are told to purify ourselves and stay in God's love...

  • “Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.” 2 Corinthians 7:1
  • “Add to your faith knowledge, goodness, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, love…:11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:5
  • “Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. :22 Be merciful to those who doubt; :23 snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy mixed with fear, hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. :24 To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy-:25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.” Jude 21

We are told to overcome

  • “I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name.” Revelation 3:11-12
  • “To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.” Revelation 3:21

We are told to go and do what Jesus did...

  • “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
  • “Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together.” John 4:36
  • “Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.” 2 Timothy 2:10
